22 grudnia 2018 roku odszedł Szymon Rathajzer (Simcha Rotem – Kazik) bohater obu Powstań w Warszawie w czasie II Wojny Światowej. Ze smutkiem przyjęliśmy tę wiadomość. Na zawsze pozostanie w pamięci nasze ostatnie, serdeczne spotkanie przed Muzeum Polin sprzed kilku lat, kiedy przyleciał ze Swoim wnukiem. Jego wystąpienie zawierało mądre, poruszające sumienia słowa, odzwierciedlające tragizm wydarzeń, których był uczestnikiem i dramatyzm podejmowanych decyzji.
Sprawiedliwi wśród Narodów Świata pamiętają i są wdzięczni, że poparł ideę budowy pomnika przy Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich: list z 3 lutego 2015 „(…) Myśl powstania anonimowego symbolu najwyższego człowieczeństwa, który tak pięknie streszczają słowa „Ratującym-Ocaleni”, uważam za godną i słuszną. Od samego początku koncepcji Muzeum, realizowanej na terenie straszliwej tragedii kończącej historie Żydów Warszawy, przyświecała myśl, że będzie ono poświęcone pamięci ŻYCIA Żydów Polskich. Ponieważ pomnik „Ratującym-Ocaleni” jest inicjatywą Dzieci Holocaustu, ostatniego już pokolenia tych, którzy przeżyli Shoah należy uszanować tę wolę postawienia symbolu ich OCALONEGO życia.(…)”.
